This is what we are all about...

Overview

Clean and sober living homes are crucial to the success of any addiction recovery process. Our houses offer the best chance for recovery because they allow residents to re-adjust to life at their own pace. Instead of going through detox, the rehab, and then being on their own, our clean and sober living homes provide the needed support for clients to stay successful in their sobriety.

The need

The transition from rehab back to life in the community is one of the most vulnerable periods for a recovering addict. Clean and sober living homes provide a secure, stable environment where rehab graduates can continue to practice their coping skills in a drug and alcohol-free environment. Strict rules such as no substance use, mandatory house meetings, regular drug screening, and participation in household chores, provide a necessary structure. In a study of 300 residents of sober living homes published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs found that the majority of participants had positive outcomes: more days of sobriety, more social support, and fewer legal problems after rehab.

The Vision

Starting January 1, 2019, we will have a team of addiction specialists that will be available to help people with alcohol and drug addictions. Our team will specialize in evaluating each individual person in order to find the best help possible. We will help determine if you need medically supervised detoxification, and how soon you need to get into a treatment plan. We will stick with you throughout the entire recovery, from that first phone call, and if preferred, for continued years down the road in order to make sure you are always healthy, happy, and living a sober life.

We will have everything a person needs to make getting into treatment as easy as possible. We will have specialists that do phone evaluations to on-staff counselors that will help with any medical complications that might occur. Our insurance verification team will ensure our clients are placed at the best facility at the lowest cost to you, all in an effort to make sure you are as stress-free as you can be on your road to recovery. From the first point of contact, our team will work as quickly as possible to get clients into treatment immediately.

The Leaders

Nora Fox
Executive Director

Nora Fox, Executive Director of Nora's TLC, began her community service as owner and operator of a childcare business. Realizing the serious needs of the community and after one of her five children became mentally ill, Nora dedicated much of her time caring for her son. One day Nora’s son came home with five homeless mentally ill young men. Compelled to help the young men, Nora started her in-home healthcare agency (Nora’s TLC). After receiving phone calls from the prison system, mental hospitals and organizations such as Rubicon, Nora decided to take on more clients and currently has three care homes serving 18 clients and growing.

After a 45-year absence from school, Nora decided to return to college and earned her Associate of Arts degree from Delta College in Stockton, California. She is currently enrolled in California State College – Stanislaus working towards a bachelor degree in Social Work.

John Howard
President

A native Stocktonian, John joined the Air Force and served four years before he began a career as a refrigeration mechanic at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo where he worked for over 28 years before retiring. While at Cal Poly, John met and married Nora Fox and soon joined her in operating Nora’s TLC. Today, Nora and John share in the day-to-day operations of the organization and are rewarded with the gratification of providing homes for the homeless.
